Ice Skating in Tenerife
Tenerife has long been renowned for its beautiful all year round climate, with average temperature’s of 21.5⁰C from January through to December. Therefore it can come as a surprise to visitors in the winter months when they look up at Mt Teide to see the summit capped in snow.
Mt Teide of course is Tenerife’s famous volcano which rises to a summit of 3,718m’s, making it Spain’s highest point. With the slightly colour winter temperatures and the altitude at which it stands, snow is a regular occurrence. It is not possible to ski or snowboard in the national park but that doesn’t mean you can’t try your hand at winter sport’s.
For the last few years it has been possible to ice skate here on the island, when rinks have been installed in Santa Cruz the island’s capital. But for the first time it is going to be possible to ice skate in the south. The Magma Arte & Congresos Centre is installing an indoor ice rink for the festive period from the 18th December 2015 until the 10th January 2016.
This is a unique opportunity to do something a little different, it is open to people of all ages and it doesn’t matter whether you are a complete novice or an expert skater, it is more about having fun and new experiences. Tenerife is a popular destination with holiday makers over the Christmas and New Year period and although they come for the sunshine, this gives them a chance to enjoy a traditional winter pastime.
The Magma Centre is expecting the ice rink to be very popular with prices starting from just eight Euros, so booking in advance is highly recommended. To reserve your tickets and for further information about the ice rink and all of their events throughout 2016, please visit their website www.tenerifemagma.com.
